The central theme of the course have been Local History. The globalization and communication technology has brought the world together and closer. There is no better word than “Global Village” to describe today’s world. India is a vast country with diversity. In such a large country the history written on nationalistic outlook cannot represent all equally. As a result a valuable approach to study history develops from nationalist historiography, which is termed as regional or local history. The result of this studies filled many missing information in historical knowledge and acted as a corrective to some of the earlier accepted information on national history. The regional history is not a geographical expression but an important source of national history. To understand the local history it is important to know the socio culture and economic interdependence of the region. Local history must be documented and should reach up to new generation. India is the country of villages. Every village has its own history. Historical studies on villages at micro level leads to comprehensive history of the region. Study of local history comprises family history, micro history, oral history, civil history and local monuments. India has diverse religious traditions, festivals, fests, traditions, prayers, temples, mosques and dargahs. The course of such historical aspects depicts in culture of nation.
